Ok, I'm running Amaze v 4.5 for the cookie - the unsigned one as the signed one kept failing.
So far its got the satellite symbol in the top left corner, so I'm thinking that it is paired..having said that the battery just died in the GPS unit, so i'll leave it on charge for a bit and try again later this afternoon!
