So I must be doing something wrong, I have an N96 and the original TomTom installation files and can not get the installer to install. I have copied all the TomTom files onto my mass storage device within my N96. Am I supposed to put the files all at the top level of the Mass storage device as per my original TomTom sim? I then changed my date to 08/08/2007 Then I disabled the certificate check to allow all software installed. Then via the latest version of PCsuite I start the installer going, it comes up on the phone asking to proceed which I confirm and the installer starts to install. However the installer fails with the following error message. The application installer in the phone does not support the file format of the application that was tried to be installed. Please help me? what have I done wrong? Last edited by delbert; 14-10-2008 at 05:53 PM.. |

You can try and copy the tomtom.sis file to you card and install it from there and see if that works. I dont know why it will be telling you that message as there is a number of us that have it working. recheck you disabled the certificate check. Im using the same tomtom i used with my N95 using bluetooth GPS not the internal cracked copy

You dont have the copy of tomtom for 95-8GB do you ? if you have this is will not work so it will not install. Try and find your self a copy on the net thats been taken from a working 95 and copy all files to your phone and see if you can install again. It may have something to do with your copy of tomtom. I dont know if this will work but how about if you change your phone to english and see if it installs and you need to turn back your clock to about 20/06/07 to install tomtom.

Hi I have followed the instructions from you guys but when I try to install through PC Suite, my phone says 'expired certificate' I have set it as per the above and even turned the date back by a year!
How can I overcome this?? Thanks |

Just found this thread. I installed tom-tom just fine, maps are working. The thing is so damn slow though when trying to input a postcode or city etc... I can't complete it half the time as it just takes too long and you can't get the address typed in. Are there any fixes / tips to get round this?
Thanks |

If you have a problem with the postal codes in tomtom with UK maps you should try this patch tomtom.com/updates/great_britainpostal_all.zip
I had a similar problem with my tomtom with BeNeLux Maps and looking for a patch i came across the UK version as well. the patch should work on both the official tomtom software and the BiNPDA version that’s used with the N95 internal GPS hack ps. for the BeNeLux patch go to tomtom.com/updates/nederlandpostal_all.exe I’ve got my N96 last week, and it’s inferior to my two year old N95 with 32GB memory boost. The only thing better about it is the slightly bigger screen with the bigger viewing angle. and that is the only thing i could find that's better. Al other features are equal or worst than a N95. If I had to buy a phone today I’d buy the N95-8GB and got the memory boosted. I’m glad I still got the recite from my N96 and hope I can return it and get a phone with a working tomtom with internal sensor probably a N95-8GB. Navigation with an external GPS receiver is a bit to 2005 for me. |

Good morning,
I have finally managed to get TomTom installed but can not find the link in the Applications menu. Does anyone have any tips for how I may launch TOMTOM without the app launcher icon? as always any help would be very much appreciated. Regards |
