Default Phone screen goes black

I am a new user of the HTC Touch Diamond and I am still getting used to a touch screen phone. But one thing I find awkward is that, when you place a call the screen then goes black, making life difficult if I then need to eneter further information. The only way I have found of getting the screen back is to press the power button which is a nuisance and a bit risky if you accidentally press it for too long. Am I just missing something really obvious here?

a lot of the new touch screen phones do this, partly to save power, and partly to stop your ear from pressing things while you're on a call.

Normally they have a proximity sensor built in to them, thats how they know its against your face, but i'm not 100% if the touch diamond has it or not. Will investigate and let you know

right, had a look around and that is how its set up to run on the HTC phones - you have to press the power button to wake the phone up again.

I stumbled across this on GSM arena, this explains about the proximity, and at the end of the post there are some apps you can get that will allow you to tweak/modify the settings on the phone and change how the proximity sensor works.

I've not got a Touch Diamond, so haven't tried any of these, but if you have a go, let me know how you get on.

Hi Andy

I followed through those links you sent me. It all looks a degree more technical than I'm capable of. It looks like I'd have to download a configuration software program in order to make any cahnges.

Hmm, that sounds a little risky to me too!

I read the post with the references to the changes, but only had a quick skim of the forum. If it involves tinkering with the system settings, you're probably best off not messing with them.

I'll keep looking for you tho to see if I can find another way of doing it
