at the moment i have amaze loaded . they said "You can use the version for LG KU990.
I think it will be good for this phone. Please update me if it's OK, or if any adjustments are needed." the mapping works ok and i can plot a route but it wont find my gps recver. i also tried gmaps and had the same result. |

Loads of GPS software work with loads of LG phones, Amaze GPS is a great completely free Java based satnav for many phones including many LG phones. Im running it on my Samsung Pixon along with MGmaps... another phone people said wouldnt work with GPS but works fine. I think its an actual phone issue with the cookie cos it doesnt seem to want to work with ANY GPS software. My sugestion is to badger LG for a firmware update cos my girlfriends sisters LG Renoir works fine with it. |

I'll look into amaze then and fire it up on one of our test handsets here.
with the bluetooth GPS, i'm guessing its down to the phone not supporting the bluetooth profile it needs to connect to one.. There are software updates available from LG for the cookie, but their software is so bad that i've not managed to complete the process yet - keeps losing the connection to the phone half way through |

I think its definitely a Cookie issue, ive done some googling and it all points to that. Fired up Amaze on the LG Renoir today and its working perfectly, same with my friends LG Viewty. The latter took me from Essex to London navigating perfectly. I wouldnt suggest trying any of this with google maps tho cos it will just work with the phone masts so your not always sure its using the GPS.
Nav4all is another free satnav you could try but im unsure if they have the cookie listed (to be honest its a lot cruder that Amaze anyway) It might well be worth talking to the amaze admins about it too, the version im running on my pixon is a song ericson version because they didnt have the phone supported, they worked hard trying different versions on the pixon and found the SE version worked. They do really try to help you so have a chat with them. Last edited by Nuggy1980; 30-04-2009 at 03:55 PM.. |

I'm just downloading and installing amaze on an LG cookie here. I've managed to successfully pair and connect to a GPS receiver, I'm just waiting to check now to see if the software will find it.
the GPS unit that I paired is the Sirf III Bluetooth GPS Receiver Will post again once its installed... |

Ok, I'm running Amaze v 4.5 for the cookie - the unsigned one as the signed one kept failing.
So far its got the satellite symbol in the top left corner, so I'm thinking that it is paired..having said that the battery just died in the GPS unit, so i'll leave it on charge for a bit and try again later this afternoon! |
