Mobile Fun have recently launched a range of Mobile Broadband Antennas that will help increase the signal that you get on your 3G dongle.
There are two different types of antenna available. The standard Clip Antenna is designed to be a portable solution that clips onto the screen on your laptop or sits on your desk. It is omni-directional, which means that it will pick up signals from all directions. The High Gain 3G Directional Antenna is a more powerful signal booster. It is directional, which means that you will need to point this towards your networks transmitter in order for it to improve the signal. The High Gain antenna when positioned correctly will make a significant difference to the signal you receive, and can be wall mounted as a permanent fixture. As they seem to be generating quite a lot of interest I've set up this thread to answer you might have on them. |

Hi there,
I just bought one of your 3G Directional Antennas (CRC9 connection) along with two 5-metre extension cables. Once the dongle gets delivered in a day or so I'll be able to ascertain whether the signal from the provider is acceptable or not, in which case I may have to switch providers. Two questions for you: 1. If I need to change providers and end up with a different dongle with no CRC9 connector will you be able to supply me with the Universal connector separately? 2. I bought two 5-metre extension cables on the basis that they would link with each other and create a 10 metre extension, just in case I needed to set the antenna up outside some distance from the computer. As soon as they arrived it was obvious that the connections didn't allow for the two cables to be joined and so is there any way to extend over 5 metres or should I just return the second extension cable? Many thanks |

Hi,
It's not possible to but just the universal adapter separately, we've asked our supplier, but it's something they're not able to do at the moment. Most networks are using the same dongle at the moment - the E169, so chances are you should be able to get the same dongle, when you speak to the other network, you should be able to specify the dongle you want, but if not we offer a 30 day no quibble returns policy so just send it back and we'll exchange it. Regarding the extension cable, you just need to fill in the returns form and send it back to us for a refund. Andy |

there are 5 different antennas, the one that you need depends on the dongle that you've got. Which dongle have you got and which antenna did you order? this post will tell you where to find your dongle model number How to Boost your Mobile Broadband 3G Signal | Mobile Fun Blog if you've got your order number to hand I can find out which antenna you've got |

I've looked into this a bit more and the e1550 needs the universal antenna rather than the CRC-9.
You'll need to send that one back to us and order product 18117. These wrap around the dongle rather than plug into it. To send it back, just fill in our online returns form and post it back to us. Mobile Fun - Support Centre |

I have a Huawei E180 Dongle with 3 and my download speed is a whooping 6 - 22kb/s I can get a better signal from an upstairs window, so I am purchasing the 3 recommended Huawei Router. After looking through your sight I found the 3G High Gain Directional Antenna, it says for the E180 but not for the 3 network, so a, will it work for mine, and b, in your honest opinion will it help boost my signal. My only alternative is dial up at 1.5 cent a min evenings = download 44kb/s, so as you can see I need this dongle to work!

The Huawei E180 is the same one as is used on 3 so yes it will work fine as long as it's pointing at your nearest network transmitter Andy |
