Hi we bought the 3G antenna this week, after connecting it to the dongle (Vodfone pay as you go Huawei K3565) the signal strength bars reduced from 3 to 2 and before you ask yes we did point it towards the mast.are we dong some thing wrong or are we just in a bad reception area post code Ls19 7np.

It might be that it's pointing towards the wrong transmitter - if signal has dropped that would suggest that there is infact another transmitter somewhere else, and probably closer to you.
Have you tried rotating it through 360 degrees to see if it improves pointing in a different direction? having said that, you are in a dodgy signal area, looking at the coverage map for vodafone Mobile Phone Coverage UK - Vodafone you're not in a 3G area so it's unlikely you'll get much of a speed boost. If you point the antenna east you may pick up 3G signal, where as pointing it west you should pick up a strong 2G (GPRS) signal, although speeds will be slower. |
