Default robust aerial socket/dongle

Hi Guys,

I am using a Huw 160e but the aerial conection is weak. Does anyone know a dongle with a bigger connection or indeed a wireless router that will take a sim?

I live half a mile away from the transmitter and really struggle with signal, at the moment hygain aerial will not boost up onto 3g, it better in winter because it,s half a mile of trees and leaves drop off!

Does a panel aerial work as well as a traditional beam antennna? or is the answer a chainsaw?

Thanks,

Max

Hi Max,

Panel Antenna's boost signal by an extra 2dBi, so they are a little bit stronger, but their main advantage is that as they're outside, the walls of your house won't reduce the signal. If you can let me know your post code (private message me if you'd prefer) and your network I'll have a look and see if there is anything that could be causing you problems.

There are wireless routers that use mobile broadband dongles, but you're still going to have the same problem with signal as you're having now - the only difference is that you won't have a dongle in your laptop.

If you want to see what I mean, we've just gone live with them and should be stocking them shortly:
Option GlobeSurfer X1.
