Default n95/96 question

the n95 and n96 are available sim free.

can you use a pay as you go sim card in a sim free handset, or does it have to be a contract sim card?

both contract and PAYG SIM Cards are fine.

all the web pages i had found were so busy trying to sell you the phone that they wouldn't give out the info i needed.
