The power button on my E51 has become more and more flattened over time. It has got to the point where I can't press it with my finger tip, and have to use my finger nails instead if I'm to use it at all. This has had the unfortunate side effect of cutting into the rubber.
Is there a way to DIY repair this, or is it possible to buy an entire replacement body for an E51? (I know MB sells replacement steel body parts, but I don't this covers the plastic and rubber parts, does it?) Thanks for reading.

Hi, you can try changing the housing, but from experience I've found that it's normally the power button on the circuit board of the phone that has become damaged/worn rather than the plastic key. when it starts to wear though, you end up pressing the key more, which makes the key bad too.
Best bet to be honest is run it into a carphone warehouse. E51's should still be under their warranty (2yrs) so they'll fix it free of charge. If you can find a store with an express repair centre they can probably get it fixed same day |

You mentioned Carphone Warehouse, do they all act as repair centres? Would I need to provide my proof of purchase?

Hi,
yes, all carphone warehouse stores are repair centres, although the majority have to send the phones off to be fixed and this usually takes 10-14 days. There are about 60 express repair centres, (stores with an engineer on site) this link should list where they all are: Express repair centres - The Carphone Warehouse You will probably need your proof of purchase, but they can book it in with out it as they have a way of tracking manufacture date from the phone's imei. If you don't have the receipt, your original contract will normally be ok. |

Thank you for think, I see there's an express centre in Leeds, which I could get to. Problem is, I don't have my Mobile Fun proof of purchase (I still have the order confirmation e-mail, but they don't show the IMEI). Would it be possible for Mobile Fun to re-issue me a proof of purchase (which includes the IMEI) to take with me to a repair centre? (And if it makes any difference, I have been very complementary to Mobile Fun on my blog )
