Default O2 & Voda Music Stores

O2 and Vodafone have added to the already crowded music market, with both announcing new services that will work in accordance with their current offerings.

O2 has announced a tie up with Sony BMG for its new service, while Vodafone has launched ‘Vodafone Music’, which will be available alongside the Omnifone MusicStation platform.

Sony BMG’s link up with O2, called MyPlay, is the first operator-supported major label mobile music store. The store is already live and has videos priced fully inclusive at £1.50, tones at £3.50 and full music tracks at 99p.

It will be available alongside O2’s offering with Napster, which offers tracks from artists from all major record labels. MyPlay only offers artists on the Sony BMG label.

Meanwhile the Vodafone Music service allows customers to buy and download songs per track or album. It differs from Vodafone’s other service MusicStation, which is effectively a rental service.

Singles and albums for Vodafone Music cost on average £0.99 and £7.99 respectively and customers can browse the music store free of charge. The service is live now
