Default Brodit Tilt/Swivel Holder not charging!

I have the Brodit Tilt Swivel Holder/Charger for my TyTN II

It seems to have stopped working, although the red neon is glowing on the cigarette lighter plug and the TyTN II indicates it is charging on the Home screen and in the battery status monitor .. it is not charging the battery any more!

The battery charges with a mini USB lead connected to my laptop at work, and when connected via the mini USB on the mains charger at home ... but no longer when connected to the Brdit despite the various indicators to the contrary

Any ideas?

Cheers

Mike

Hi MikeG,

Sounds very odd - the fact the phone is indicating that it is charging is new to me. I think it's best you send it back for a replacement.

Not having much luck here are you Mike?

Have you done any software updates to your phone recently? Sometimes different firmware versions affect the charging. One of the guys here is having a similar problem with his E71. Did a software upgrade on it and now its working.

If you do want to send it back, you need to fill in the returns form

Hi there,

Had no firmware updates done, only Windows updates that are done automatically.

However following a recent major crash (See follow-on posting under HTC,Windows etc - Thread: HTC Multi coloured screen of death) I have done a complete hard re-set start and re-set the manufactures settings etc ... and the Brodit still doesn't charge!

I am going to send the it back for testing/replacement

Its probably worth having a look on the htc site then for firmware updates. Windows fixes are more about the programs and user interface, where as HTC updates are drivers and system settings. Looking at the site there are quite a few on there for the tytn ii.

Hi Andy,

I have had a look at the HTC site and checked a couple of the Operating system ROM update downloads that are available and am not sure I like the sound of the below warning on them:

* This is a generic software update. Any additional software or settings provided by your mobile operator or company will be lost. If you require this customization, please contact your supplier first before upgrading.

My phone is T-Mobile MDA Vario III ... and I am not sure what programs or settings if any I will lose by doing this

Any thoughts?

I don't think you'll lose any programs by doing this, but it will reset everything to the HTC default rather than T-Mobile, for instance, the touchflo home screen, T-Mobile made theirs Pink, HTC's is Grey. It should just be small things like that that change. T-Mobile have got their own version of the update site, but I had a look around and couldn't see much.
