Hi all,
I recently enquired to MF about the Omnia HD 8gb. I originally purchased one from another site as it was cheaper but was dismayed to find that it had a reapplied screen protector full of bubbles and dust, a photocopied manual and basically looked like it was packaged by an infant. It was returned promptly as it looked like a second hand one. Then i find out that these particular handsets aren't actually available as a UK version and are being sourced from France and Italy. Chris from MobileFun emailed me to "confirm" that all the handsets will have a factory seal on them and they are all made to a full UK specification. However, I don't see how that can be as they'd need to replace the manual and charger for it to be UK specced, which would mean no factory seal. Does anyone have any experience buying one of these or can any staff comment before i take the plunge again? I just want a handset that at least looks like it hasn't been touched and fiddled with before being sent out. Thanks. |

Hi,
UK specc'd handsets can be purchased from outside the UK and still arrive sealed as the uk mains and user guide are added by the manfacturer in some cases. Other times they simply attach a uk plug to the outside of the box. In most cases when a handset arrives to mobile fun, we break the seal in order to check the contents of the handset to ensure that everything is there as it should be (the seals are there more so for the retailer than the end user) Once we have confirmed that all is ok with the handset, we then reseal it with a mobile fun seal to confirm that the phone hasn't been tampered with since being booked into stock. Hope this helps |

It definitely helps thanks so much.
Spending half a grand I'd at least want to be the first to take of the screen cover ![]() Can i ask whether its the Italian or French version and would it come with the TV out cable? And also I understand that the IG2 italian firmware update fixes the sound problem on the vid recording. Would flashing the phone void any warranty I have with MobileFun or Samsung themselves? |

software updates don't affect the warranty as long as its not hacked software. TV-out cable varies some will, some won't which is why it's not listed as included on the product page. only way to check would be to break the seals and check. On a high end handset like this i'd have thought it would be included, but can't say for sure without checking stock on monday. |

Btw, i'm pushing my luck but what are your policies for price matching? Pixmania, king of gadgets etc.. are around the 440-450 mark |

Received the handset this morning. Very fast delivery but while there is no problem with the phone itself, the packaging is not good. There's no outer casing (where i wouldn't actually have minded the french one), And the box is ruined. Has about five seals around it which have stuck to the bubble wrap and basically torn the box up and totally ruined its presentation. Is there anything i can do? |

Hi,
Glad you got the phone ok. I'm not sure what you mean by outer casing? Do you mean a paper sleeve that wraps around the box? Not all handsets have them, so if that is what you mean, our current supply doesn't have them. With regard to the number of seals on the box, that is normal, 2 from samsung and 2 from us (minimum) as we seal each box when we book it in (as explained previously) The seals don't always stick as well as they could on samsung boxes as they have a waxy coating, so i guess they can get caught on the packaging during transport, but unfortunately there isn't a way around that as once it's been packaged and shipped, it's in the hands of Royal Mail.
