Hi wah007,
I need to get a Jabra BT5010 bluetooth headset to 'connect' to a 'Nano' bluetooth usb adapter that I've inserted into my laptop - so I can use the headset when Skyping from the laptop. The Jabra is passkey enabled, but the WinXP(SP3) software does not enable me to 'connect' the headset to the laptop. If I do as recommended on a Nano website and upgrade the WinXP software by right licking "Generic Bluetooth Radio" in Device Manager and selecting 'Update the driver', and try and select a driver I've downloaded from http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth _update.php what I get is a .exe file (btwinitialupdate.exe) rather than the .inf file that the update wizard seems to require. If (instead of using the Hardware Update wizard) I just double click on the .exe file, Windows protests 'No bluetooth device is detected'. I would be most grateful if you could tell me where I can get drivers that will upgrade the bluetooth software that comes with WinXP SP3 so that the Jabra BT5010 bluetooth headset will 'connect' to the 'Nano' bluetooth usb adapter, so I can use the headset when Skyping. Hi
Maybe you are trying to install the wrong drivers? do you know the model number of the bluetooth usb adapter? so that it will be easier to find the exact driver for it Last edited by wah007; 25-08-2008 at 12:53 PM. |

Hi Wah007,
you were absolutely right. I was assuming my hardware was made by Broadcom and so needed Broadcom's Widcom / Anycom drivers, but the Nano USB dongle is made by Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) and so needs IVT Corporation's BlueSoleil drivers / application. I've downloaded a trial version of the latest BlueSoleil (version 6.1.30.94) and using their drivers my Jabra BT5010 is paired and all connected up to the Nano to the point of vibrating in my ear. But getting the Jabra to work with Skype (latest version) (or even just to hear music played in Windows Media Player) still escapes me. (Skype works fine using a wired headset as does WMP through the laptop speaker.) I note that this link: http://www.bluesoleil.com/life/index.asp?topic=bsskype claims: 'Once the headset is connected to BlueSoleil, you don't need to modify any configuration of Skype and (can) just start a call and talk wirelessly'. I'd be most grateful for any further help you could give. Last edited by de Sales; 06-10-2008 at 03:43 PM. |
